Own Your Solar System CAPEX (EPC Model)

The CAPEX (Capital Expenditure) Model involves the upfront purchase and installation of renewable energy systems by the customer. Under the EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) model, the company designs, builds, and commissions the system, ensuring full ownership and control by the client from day one.

This approach is ideal for organizations or individuals with the capital to invest upfront and who want to own their energy systems for long-term benefits. It provides greater autonomy and control over energy costs, with full responsibility for maintenance and system upgrades falling on the owner.

Understanding the CAPEX (EPC) Model

The CAPEX (Capital Expenditure) Model is a traditional approach to investing in renewable energy systems. Under this model, customers pay upfront for the full cost of the system, including installation, maintenance, and management. The EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) model is used by energy companies to design, procure, and construct the renewable energy solution, ensuring that the system meets all technical requirements.

Once installed, the customer owns the entire energy system, which typically includes solar panels, wind turbines, or hybrid solutions. This model is particularly beneficial for organizations or individuals with the financial resources to make an upfront investment in renewable energy and gain long-term financial and operational control.

Benefits and Considerations of CAPEX (EPC Model)

One of the main advantages of the CAPEX (EPC Model) is long-term cost savings. Once the system is paid for, the customer benefits from reduced energy bills, no ongoing operational costs, and the ability to use renewable energy without the worry of rising utility prices. Additionally, system owners can take advantage of tax incentives and depreciation benefits associated with capital investment.

However, the primary consideration is the large initial capital expenditure. Businesses and homeowners must have the necessary funds to invest in the system upfront. Additionally, they are responsible for system maintenance, upgrades, and troubleshooting. While ownership offers control, it also requires ongoing commitment to ensuring the system remains efficient and operational.

Distributed Solar Solutions

Our Distributed solar energy solutions are in a pay-as-you-go model, by which corporates pay for solar electricity at a rate lower than grid tariffs – in fact, up to 20-40% cheaper.

There is zero investment, no capex and the user does not take on any of the performance risk of the plant. This translates into considerable savings for companies, without the risk. Our team will take care of the entire operation and maintenance for the 25-year life of the system. All you need to do is sign a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) and sit back and enjoy the benefits.

Renewable Farms (Open Access)

In 2015, we extended this OPEX model to our private solar farms business. Today we have a large network of private farms across major states in India that allow Open Access power procurement, through which we supply large corporates with clean energy. Apart from solar farms, CleanMax has also developed wind farms as well as wind-solar hybrid farms across different states in India which allow Open Access power procurement.

Our renewable farms have different power procurement models from zero upfront investment (under OPEX model), to minimum investment (under Group Captive model) and up to 100% ownership model (as a Captive unit). Additionally, over and above the energy saving model you can also get tax and financial benefits depending on type of power procurement model. Our innovative solutions enable companies to meet their RE100 aspirations with significant cost-savings as the power is 20-40% cheaper than the grid power.
